TriMas Subsidiary Cequent Prevails in Patent Litigation Against Willful Infringer
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TriMas Corporation (NYSE: TRS) -- a diversified growth company of high-end, specialty niche businesses -- today announced that its Cequent group has prevailed in patent litigation against Intradin (Shanghai) Machinery Co., Ltd., in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
In the lawsuit, the Court held that Intradin had willfully infringed several of Cequent's patents, including patents for its coupler locking device, receiver lock and ball clamp trailer coupler, and awarded Cequent treble damages based on Intradin's sales of its infringing products in the United States. The Court also enjoined Intradin from importing or selling additional infringing products and awarded pre- and post-judgment interest. Intradin has now satisfied that judgment and the case has been closed.
"We are extremely pleased to have prevailed in this matter and that Intradin has satisfied the Court's judgment," said Ed Schwartz, Group President of Cequent. "The Court's ruling, and especially its award of treble damages, demonstrates the value of our patent portfolio and our commitment to innovation and quality. TriMas will continue to vigorously defend its intellectual property rights to the benefit of the company and its shareholders."
