TriMas' Monogram Aerospace Unit Wins BAE Systems' Chairman's Award

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., Dec 22, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- TriMas Corporation (NYSE: TRS) - a diversified growth company of highly-engineered, specialty niche businesses - today announced that its Monogram Aerospace Fasteners unit won a Chairman's Award from BAE Systems, the nation's leading global defense and aerospace company.

Monogram was presented with the award in a ceremony held at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors, UK, for participating in the BAE Systems' Eurofighter program with an innovative new blind bolt fastener. The fastener, which applies much higher clamping strength, is helping BAE meet its high standards for fighter production and performance.

The Chairman's Award recognizes employees and industry partners for outstanding, new and innovative ways in which they shape BAE Systems and contribute towards its global success. The 2008 Bronze Award inscription reads, "We recognize people whose ideas, actions and behaviors make BAE Systems a better, more competitive company and help us live our values."

Forty Bronze Awards were presented at this event, and the first was for "Fin Skin Installation Improvements" to Geoff Dandy of BAE and David Hammond of Monogram Aerospace Fasteners. More than 3,800 nominations, across the three categories of Enhancing Customer Performance, Innovation and Transferring Best Practice, were received worldwide in 2008.

Dave Hammond, Director of European Sales and Marketing for Monogram, accepted the award on behalf of Monogram and acknowledged the efforts and support of the Monogram team back in Los Angeles.
